The carpenter who almost killed Hitler

Adolf Hitler made many enemies during his rise to power, his time at the helm of Nazi Germany, and the war that ended with the utter defeat of his regime. It is not surprising that he was the subject of numerous assassination attempts. The one most people know about was Operation Valkyrie on July 20, 1944, led by Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (Read our earlier article – Valkyrie)However, Hitler came just as close to death years before, in November 1939, only two months after World War II broke out. Amazingly, this earlier attempt was planned and carried out not by foreign agents or highly trained military officers, but by a simple carpenter named Georg Elser.

  1. He joined the Red Front Fighters' Association, ... a far-left paramilitary organization affiliated with the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) during the Weimar Republic.[1] It was officially a non-partisan and legally registered association.[2] The organisation was banned as extremist by the governing Social Democrats in 1929. (!!! long before Hitle to be elected....)
.... he voted for the Communist Party until 1933, ...
Elser had extreme views, supported by a letter that Schurr sent to a newspaper in Ulm in 1947 which stated that Elser "was always extremely interested in some act of violence against Hitler and his cronies. He always called Hitler a 'gypsy'—one just had to look at his criminal face."
... The psychologist wrote in his report that Elser was a "fanatic" and had a pathological desire for recognition.

    1. If he had been alive today in the United States, he'd belong to ANTIFA or BLM. He might even have joined both.

    2. Exactly, sometimes you should judge another by that person's enemies. I HATE communists, always have, always will. They killed some of my ancestors. Those bastards are now in hell. Hybo

  2. "Adolf Hitler made many enemies " from a certain tribe and from the MArxists, no matter if Bolshevicks, or Marxist Socialists or using the disguise of their Marxist belief.

  4. I have in my possession a copy of the final draft of a screen play. It was written by the son of a former General in the German high command. The subject is the several attempted assassinations of Hitler. The author's dad was one involved in planning assassinations just prior to, and soon after, the infamous Valkyrie. In one instance of the play, mind you, strictly based on actual history, an attempt was delayed due to the attempt by another not associated with that group of officers. The attempt which delayed the actions of the officers was none other than the subject here. He is identified by name.

I gave my word that I would not reveal the screen play. This here is the most I have ever mentioned it. Even so, I have misgivings about mentioning it. I mention it only because of the subject of your post. It seems many inside NAZI Germany were trying to kill Hitler.

  5. So, if there were so many attempts on Hitler, how did he live so long? Rather than the various plotters inept, we should consider the many layers surrounding der fuhrer. Thus, not only because of his paranoia but because of careful planning.

The lesson to us is that no matter how hated is the one, the many, though they have close association, may not penetrate the layers. Even in their close association they are watched by steely eyes. Does this mean that all hope of bringing an end to the one is vanquished? No!
Does it mean that more careful planning is required? Does it mean that The People cannot bring down the despot? No! and No!

The 'saving grace', as it were, is they who plotted to kill Hitler had sought to confine themselves to within the law. It is ironic to say that they who seek extra judicious killing are themselves seeking to do so lawfully. Instead of looking to the attempts on the life of Hitler we should look to none less than the Founders as our example of how to bring down a tyrant. After all, it was that the Founders finally and eventually extinguished hope of remaining under the law. Sic semper tyrannus.
