I'll watch it occasionally. Telly and Rickles were great. The guy that played the Nazi tank commander was perfect and Donald Sutherland was a hoot. Good movie.
You forgot Donald Sutherland, who played a superlative "Oddball". The gunslinger scene where they approach the German tank reminiscent of Eastwood's spaghetti westerns--still makes me chuckle.
Crapgame: "How are things at the bank?" Big Joe: "The Tiger's still there and he ain't moving.." Crapgame: "Make a deal with him!" Big Joe: "What kind of deal?" Crapgame: "A deal deal, maybe the guy's a Republican!.."

ReplyDeleteThink of all the great Donald Sutherland movies all the way up to Animal House and not very famous but a hell of a body of work. Mash movie as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat movie. I may have to dig it out of the pile and watch it today...
ReplyDeleteOne of Donald Sutherland's best roles..
ReplyDelete"Always with the negative waves moriarity always with the negative waves."
ReplyDeleteThe actor that played "Uncle Leo" in the Seinfeld TV series was in it as well.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteClint Eastwood, Telly Savalas, and Don Rickles all in the same movie...?
ReplyDeleteDamn.
There isn't that much talent in all of Hollyweird any more.

I always thought the "burning bridges" song sounded too 1960's for what was supposed to be a WW2 movie..
ReplyDeleteThe theme song was done by Mike Curb Congregation “Burning Bridges”. Great movie.
ReplyDeleteThat movie was a hoot. I have it my collection.
