Case in point, Dr. Bhakdi had a most illustrious career and earned numerous awards, but is now shunned by many of his former colleagues at the universities where he worked and taught, for the crime of speaking out against the dominant narrative.
Thus the truly smart people often learn to simply shut up, as a matter of self preservation, while the merely clever but arrogant types often take center stage in academia and research, despite seriously lacking in the truthfulness department.
