My take on video is below.
Somehow the bible never felt more metal!
This is an animated version of the bible's Revelations, with Eddie
adaptation of course. The man in beginning in robe is The second coming
(Jusus 2.0), he sees it is time to release the four horsemen. Only
certain individuals are allowed to the party if they can pass to get the
mark of the beast (green scanner thing). You see the leaders of the
nations, America where democracy is denoted by flag flipped as becoming
backwards (where right is wrong and wrong is right). The British
Parliament men show care more about themselves then the people they
serve, the cripplee astronaut symbolizes Russia whose space conquests
have cost their society endless and shown nothing but further poverty
for people as result, and china whose rich leader are dragging down the
people who literally are the ones who make them wealthy and powerful and
the golden dragon he rides is the religious symbol here.
At the end, Jesus sacrifices himself into Wrath and unleashes the four
horsemen, turning those who sold their souls into demons, and then
unveils their leader as the devil he is and plasters him to the wall for
all to witness his weakness as God ultimately prevails. At the end,
Eddie (aka God's Wrath) starts the world all over again with the Adam
and Eve that he saved. I speculate Adam and Eve were in the liquid
because they were born near perfect beings, or cloned, or something like
that who gave the false prophet his everlasting youth.
The apple Eddie gives them is the fruit of Knowledge to start over again
the right way on earth.
You've got me beat. I first heard them in 10th grade in 1985. I've not seen them in concert, (money...) but did get paid to drive 4 friends to the show at UNO Lakefront in 1988 or 89. I proved that I could drink a bottle of Bacardi in 3 hours, and then drive 2 hours home...god, I miss some things about being young.
Have a look at the 'Killers' Hawaiian shirt in the store - https://666.ironmaiden.com/browse/iron-maiden-global-merchandise-uk/products/killers-hawaiian-shirt.
Yep, agree with Coffee Man. Been a huge Maiden fan for almost that same amount of time. Saw them on the Powerslave, Seventh Son, and Maiden England tour. The Trooper ale is very good and Dickinson's book, "What Does This Button Do?" is a good look into one of the greatest lead singers of all time. Without a doubt my favorite band.
When I watched, I saw so much linkage to Iron Maiden of the past. I didn't stop to analyze it, just enjoyed some fresh metal for a change. Be interesting to get the band's take on the meanings of the video and lyrics.
That was awesome! Been a huge Maiden fan for over 45 years! Ever since Paul DiAnnio sang for them!
