Works great until someone looses a finger tip, like I did last Monday. I was using a table saw in an unapproved way like I've done a thousand times before, now I realized I was gambling, with my fingers.
Nope. Learn how to cut a strait line with your circular saw! If the cut is that critical there are eight foot strait edges available. But he should be able to cut +- 1/8 inch with a chalk line and circsaw.
But a 7 1/4" circular saw only has a cut depth of 2 1/4" to 2 3/8" depending on brand. You can rip all the way through 4 sheets of 1/2". Now a 10" table saw. Now we are talking.
Any jobsite I ever worked would have fired him on the spot. You can't be that stupid and expect the boss to appreciate your "creative thinking". And if the boss told him to do it, he should have told the man to "KMA" and walked off the job on his own-- that isn't a boss you want to work for.

Considering those tiny little saws are nearly useless for cutting anything over 1/4" plywood with one set of hands, that's pure genius.
