Meanwhile, I have to handle a Halyomorpha halys , errr, Leptoglossus occidentalis which is another gift from China.west of the Rockies. (update thanks to anon in the comments). I thought this was a "stink, stink bug" not just another "stink bug" since that has been the name tossed around by most people that are dealing with the infestation here in New Hampshire. I stand corrected as to the true entomology of said insect on my monitor.
These fuckers are everywhere this year.

ReplyDeleteThey are a stink bug, they have been imported, just like the Asian lady bug, they help kill harmful bugs on Christmas trees. Fucking thing are everywhere.

ReplyDeleteWe have a bumper crop of a very similar bug here in Colorado. Looks the same, but with different coloration. Has like a red "V" on it's back.

ReplyDeleteIn Utah they have the Box Elder bugs, in Eastern Washington we calls 'em stinkbugs. They're everywhere.

ReplyDeleteWe have Leaf-footed bugs around here. Little suckers kill Monarch caterpillars so I kill all I can.
ReplyDeleteSimilar to those, we have red-shoulder bugs here in OK. Colloquially, they’re known as “F&cking Bugs” here, for obvious reasons.
ReplyDeleteThey're prolific this year up in this corner of NH, too. I call 'em stinkbugs but yea, they're not the real SBs - ty for posting this, now I know, great site. These annoying little fkers and ladybugs weasel in the smallest spaces to get into the house in the fall. Seal up those cracks in the late summah!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't know what the brown marmorated stink bug looks like or smells like, and you live on the East Coast, then count your blessings. Most of us had to deal with them a couple years back, millions of them everywhere. Good news is, Praying Mantises will eat them right up. Last year's killer Asian import was the ash borer, which has already killed tens of millions of trees. This year it's the spotted lantern fly. Every year China sends us at least two new bugs, one of which has feet.
