Didn't think anyone remembered the short lived 4-track. Used to have a player that would do both 4 and 8-track. That was back in about 1969 or 1970..........
My first player was a four track. My first VCR was Betamax.
Four tracks were like Beta tapes in that they're technically better than the alternative, but don't play as long so the others won the market. They say what made VHS win over Beta was the porn companies went with VHS. Never bet against porn.
I am so old I used to listen to 4-Track tapes... and also had to have the operator dial for you on a party line.
