I hate those damned things! You can thank the Sacramento nuthouse (CA State Assembly) for them! Those cans are CARB (California Air Resource Board) Compliant. What's that they say; "The more you overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to clog the drain." In this case, the easier it is to KEEP it from clogging! They're SCIENTIFICALLY DESIGNED to lose at least half of what you fill them with! They were obviously designed by people who never have to use them! When cruising yard sales, I'm always looking for old school gas cans. Every time I find one, I buy it, and throw away a CARB can...
I got one of these for my plastic lawn mower gas can. Works great. There were two base caps, each with different threads. Neither of them matched the threads on my can, so per instructions, had to use original cap. Maybe not actually including matching thread pattern avoids patent infringement? Anyway, have had mine installed for a couple of years now, and it still does NOT leak.
Tractor Supply sells nozzle kits in 2 different sizes, one that will fit a car and a larger one for your generator or log splitter. It includes 2 different caps like the kits RHT447 describes as well as a vent. I rotate 30 gallons in my shed in 5 gallon cans, and they all sport these nozzles.
So true. I absolutely hate those cans. More gas spills with these than the old ones.
