I had the pleasure of meeting this fine gentlemen a few years at National Gun Day/The Show of Shows in Louisville, Kentucky. I got my picture made with him. It only took a few seconds to see he was a "what you see is what you get kind of guy". He will forever be remembered for this scene. You will be missed Gunny.
Reminds me of my own basic training 54 years ago. Damn there must be something wrong with me because I get such great pleasure watching and recall it all as "good times". And yes! That is almost exactly what it was like but multiply it by 12 weeks and three DI's.
Oh, dear me.....The Lord called another one home.
ReplyDeleteI met him several times at "Old Fort MacArthur Days" in San Pedro. Truly a fine gentleman, and an inspiration to countless others.
God bless, Gunney!
Semper Fi, Gunny.
ReplyDeleteThe History Channel really needs to give you a retrospective.
