It all sounds good on paper.............. until the government decides to get involved:

Implanted Microchip to Replace Credit Cards, Car Keys

A microchip embedded under the skin will replace credit cards and keys according to Stephen Ray, who has already overseen a program for Sweden’s largest state owned train operator that allows customers to scan their chips instead of using tickets.

BBC News showcased the system in which Swedes are able to have their embedded chip scanned by a conductor who uses an app to match up their chip membership number with a purchased ticket.

Around 3,000 people in Sweden have already had a chip embedded in their hand in order to access secure areas of buildings.

The secrets of the USS Indianapolis

Leigh sends:

I saw this on PBS last night.
They did a live reveal of the USS Indianapolis's wreckage - the ship that delivered the first atomic bomb.
I'm not much on PBS, but they do have some decent specials sometimes.

Here is the header at the daily mail:

The secrets of the USS Indianapolis revealed: Incredible footage shows how the warship was hit by two Japanese torpedoes and its guns are still locked and loaded after it was discovered on the seabed after 72 years by Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen

  • Deep sea explorers used a drone which was sent to the ocean floor in order to beam back stunning images of the USS Indianapolis
  • Last month, researchers found the wreckage of the Indianapolis, which was sunk by a Japanese torpedo in the final days of World War Two
  • The Indianapolis lies over three miles below the surface of the sea somewhere between Guam and the Philippines
  • Paul Allen, the billionaire co-founder of Microsoft, sent an expedition toward the bottom of the sea to map out what remains of the Indianapolis

'Shape-shifting' bacteria spotted on International Space Station

Bacterial cells treated with a common antibiotic have been spotted changing shape to survive while aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
The way bacteria act in near-zero gravity environments could pose a serious problem for treating astronauts with infections.

Florida Police "Shaming" Looters On Social Media

Just imagine how caning, having perps locked in stocks, dismemberment (cutting off the hand of a thief as in mooslem countries), or public hangings would work to deter such shenanigans. I would wager that the crime rate would drop dramatically.

Looters in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Read the story HERE or scroll down to see a hypothetical spoof (CNN/Anderson Cooper) that is actually about par for the "fake news" course.

Just a reminder

I doubt it has anything to do with shortages, oil production in the Gulf of Mexico, or refineries, but I shit you not, there isn't in gas in the county where I live in northwest Alabama. A lot of north Alabama is under a Tropical Storm Warning with high winds and lots of rain forecast for the next two or three days. Being in a very rural/wooded area we are more likely than not to lose power due to falling limbs/trees. I imagine a lot of folks filled cans and cars in anticipation of losing power from the electrical grid and having to resort to generator power, etc.

"Struttin' That Azz" (language)

This has been a around for a few years. I cracked up the first time I saw it and it never fails to bring a smile to my face (especially at the end when he throws his cigarette to the ground).  A Huntsville, AL reporter is downtown covering a local annual race known as the Rocket City Marathon.  The local man gives his opinion and protests the fact that "everybody is running". There are also a few other videos and remixes of this on YouTube.  Enjoy.
