Would This Song Be Considered Racist In Today's Day And Age of SJW's?
Well the South side of Chicago
Is the baddest part of town
And if you go down there
You better just beware
Of a man named Leroy Brown
Now Leroy more than trouble
You see he stand 'bout six foot four
All the downtown ladies call him "Treetop Lover"
All the men just call him "Sir"
And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the whole damned town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog
Now Leroy he a gambler
And he like his fancy clothes
And he like to wave his diamond rings
In front of everybody's nose
He got a custom Continental
He got an Eldorado too
He got a thirty two gun in his pocket for fun
He got a razor in his shoe
And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the whole damned town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog
Now Friday 'bout a week ago
Leroy shootin' dice
And at the edge of the bar
Sat a girl named Doris
And oo that girl looked nice
Well he cast his eyes upon her
And the trouble soon began
And Leroy Brown learned a lesson
'Bout messin' with the wife of a jealous man
And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the whole damned town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog
Well the two men took to fighting
And when they pulled them off the floor
Leroy looked like a jigsaw puzzle
With a couple of pieces gone
And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the whole damned town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog
And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the whole damned town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog
Hey Irish;
ReplyDeleteBack then people had a sense of humor...they weren't thin skinned like the pussies running around today.
Does Jim ever mention race? Color? Ethnicity? Leroy Brown could easily be a white man, black man, I even knew a guy from India that went by Leroy. Only a person searching for something to be offended over would think it's racist.
ReplyDeleteHi Irish!!!
ReplyDelete'Saw Jim "Live" at the "Balboa Bowl" In "Sandyeggo" spring of '73... school was just out for the summer and The local Rock Radio KPRI put on a "Free Concert" to kick off the summer!! Several acts... A Lady named Ellen McElwain was the #1 and Jim was The #2 But Sandyeggo wasn't going to have that, "We want Jim!!!" the Chant started!!! A great Pall came over Sandyeggo when we heard that Jim was killed in that plane crash!!!

PS as for wonderin' if the song would be considered Racist by the SJW's......"Why Sure!!!" They'll even call you "racist" if you put cream in your coffee!! But remember,"Consider the sourse!!"
Whether they would be offended or not would depend on what race the singer was. If the singer was white, of course the SJW's would be offended.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused. What's racist about that song?
ReplyDeleteThis song played on every juke box in the USA at the time.
