  1. An absolute legend and icon.
In my personal opinion, after listening to thousands of hours of music of all genres. he is THE best guitarist on the planet.
Sorrow, Comfortable numb, the list goes on and on and on.
I kick myself for not going to the last show they had around here (British Columbia, Canada), I never got to see Pink Floyd in concert and I would DEARLY LOVE to go see this man play in concert but he is not scheduled to come within a thousand miles of here.

A very Happy Birthday to him and may he stay healthy enough to keep doing what he does best.

  3. That is a big one.
I don't mind growing older myself, it's just hard watching your heroes grow old and die.
Zappa was my hero since 7th grade. Losing him left a hole. The thought of a world without Gilmore, is an empty feeling.
    Hope he grows very old.

  4. On a more positive now, I agree with Phil.
(The first note of the main solo is such an iconic strat sound!)
There are no gratuitis notes in his playing. He says exactly what needs to be said, and nothing more.
All his soloing is so much a part of the song being played, that you can't imagine any other solo that would fit like his do.
    He's close to perfect.

  5. I saw Gilmour playing with Pete Townshend at the Brixton Academy quite a few years ago, I was in the front row, right in front of Gilmour. And his speakers.

I couldn't hear a damn thing when I came out of the building. Just a buzzing ....
