I live in the far Southeast corner of Texas, so the Aurora is something only observed in photographs.
A few decades ago, after a particularly strong solar event, the local news reported airport workers saw the Aurora on the northern horizon on clear, winter night.
I missed it, and would have stood for hours for a glimpse.
