Clean Your Undie's Moment...

TOPSFIELD, Mass. (WHDH) - A couple was on their way to Rhode Island Wednesday afternoon when a hatchet came crashing through their windshield.

The couple was on I-95 in Topsfield when the yard tool fell off a landscaping truck in front of them, bounced off the road and punched a hole in their windshield, coming inches from the woman in the passenger's seat.

Police said the hatchet wasn't secured on the truck, which is why it dislodged.

"The woman who was in the passenger seat had glass on her, however she wasn't injured but obviously shaken," Mass. State Police Trooper Joe Risteen said.

Troopers say if the couple was going any faster or if they panicked the outcome could have been much worse.

“I’ve never seen and nor do I ever want to see an axe go through somebody’s windshield again. The outcome I was pleased with; that nobody was injured. It could have been much worse,” Risteen said.

The couple took their car to a nearby dealership and then hit the road again, completely uninjured.

The driver of that truck has been issued a ticket for $200 for not properly securing the hatchet.
