Sure, like everybody else, you’ve listened to Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon
so many times that you can recite not just every line but every
heartbeat, clock tick, and cash register ring by heart. But how much do
you really know about the landmark prog classic, which is celebrating

I read the piece. Overall, I found it rather depressing. Surely they could have steered the article in a more upbeat direction, considering how much it means to all of us. I'm left with a feeling of disappointment because of the selfishness of them all.
ReplyDeleteI agree Timbo.. I guess their egos got in that way. Although it seems like they were able to make some amazing timeless music for many years after.
DeleteHell ya! You got that right. Dark side was the beginning of Floyd for me. I remember the exact day and place I first heard it. I remember being absolutely stunned that there was something this amazing that I was unaware of, until that moment! Leave it to yahoo to paint such an ugly picture though. I guess my point is, if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything. I was expecting some really cool inside trivia, as I'm sure you were. Between Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall, I can't pick a favorite. They are all too influential to me. How about you?
DeleteAll those plus Meddle and Atom Heart Mother.. Then The Division Bell, I enjoy Gilmours solo stuff as well as Roger Waters Amused to Death (which is absolutely amazing). They are extremely talented and have no peers. :)
DeleteSo I was 11 when that album came out...
ReplyDeleteI still remember as a teen putting headphones on and listening to it in the dark. (And, for the record, I've never taken an illicit mind-altering substance. Nor a licit one, AFAIK.) Still a damned fine effort that I sometimes still listen to in the dark.
