I grew up listening to the sonic booms made by the jets from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. We would always look into the sky to try and find the contrail. Back then there was never any thought of using the jets against American citizens as the discussions concerning drones in the US are today.
When we were kids in the early 50's, we would run outside to see a thunderous jet fly overhead. If I saw one of them now, I would probably run inside and hide......
