Is There an Arachnologist in The House?

Good friend Jeff sent this photo from his house. Does anyone know what kind of evil, monstrous creation from hell this is?

    1. Yup, wolf spider. I had one of these in my house in Northern California....dragging a huge egg-sack across my kitchen floor. Nothing the heel of my boot couldn't take care of!!

  2. Yup, wolf spider. Harmless, but voracious for other little pests. My brother saw one and asked if we had tarantulas way up here in the north country.

  3. What is it with you people and spiders? Just squish it and drive on... pansies.

  4. Not exactly 'harmless'. They *WILL* bite if cornered (typically a roving hand or foot under bed-covers), and while the odds of it being serious/deadly are slim, the bite can be quite uncomfortable for several days.

  5. Don't know, but back when I was in Basic training in South Carolina the whole battalion came down with a case of crabs, and they were about that size.

  7. I agree that it looks like a wolf spider, but just soak the thing with some wasp spay and move on!

  8. Wolf Spider. Has the ring around the back. Has the pyramid pattern on the ass. Let it live it will eat the other smaller spiders, flies, and any other critters around.

  9. Wolf spider; harmless unless you bother it. It hunts and eats any bug smaller than itself. I let them alone to do their thing, myself.

  10. I learned long ago to NOT toss my work gloves on the ground and then retrieve them the next morning. The fuckers climb inside and bite your ass when you stick your hands back in the gloves. Finger swells up like a ballpark frank and itches like mad for days.

P.S. Apparently i'm a slow learner since it happened to me twice ...
