Nights were cool and dry, days were hot and dry. I remember the sound of V8's running on natural gas to pump water for the cotton about this time of year. There were little pools of warm air that had that distinctive smell around each pump. Little islands of noise, heat and that weird exhaust odor... Driving through the fields at night was a sensory experience... Seeing the blue lightning of electricity running over spark plug wires in the dark.... I didn't realize I lived near heaven then.... And damnably far away from it now....

Down it south Texas it's normally like a soggy wet wool blanket at high noon on a dog day in August...STxARhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04588850178293194825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-365858055267871677.post-26414022743830086122020-07-26T09:38:05.375-04:002020-07-26T09:38:05.375-04:00Why is Althouse on your Blog List? Why is Althouse on your Blog List?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17559825855894790319noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-365858055267871677.post-49686658478634192892020-07-25T15:13:40.704-04:002020-07-25T15:13:40.704-04:00Lived in Jackson Hole decades ago, before Hollywoo...Lived in Jackson Hole decades ago, before Hollywooders and other douches discovered it.
