The downdraft pipes would need cleaned fairly regularly, as they are going to build creosote rapidly. Very effective way to scavenge heat tho.Spudhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00689059709873763146noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-365858055267871677.post-36421676976153304132012-11-29T00:49:27.436-05:002012-11-29T00:49:27.436-05:00Note that he has the standard exhaust still there....Note that he has the standard exhaust still there. It's there for a reason - you can't start the fire in downdrafter mode. Once your fire is drawing well, then you can switch to downdrafting. Of course the trick is knowing when you can do it, but it's pretty obvious if you switch too soon - the stove blows smoke into the room. This works while requiring no electricity, but does need some intelligence and knowledge from the operator.

tweellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164718561825615886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-365858055267871677.post-68103211320126775712012-11-28T19:39:33.545-05:002012-11-28T19:39:33.545-05:00Might try a stack robber instead.

You can also have CO2 monitor in the room. It's pretty good at increasing the use of the heat .Irishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04623539538740414862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-365858055267871677.post-50166430324590011282012-11-28T12:35:05.780-05:002012-11-28T12:35:05.780-05:00I don't like the "down" on the chimn...I don't like the "down" on the chimney. I think the same thing could be accomplished without the risk of gas poisoning. How about putting "radiator" fins on the chimney and a small fan blowing across it?Grandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03987790286076105938noreply@blogger.com
