Post Thanksgiving Meme Drop

I hope everyone is enjoying  this Thanksgiving holiday. I have much to be thankful for and hope the same for the readers here. There is not a lot to report on my end (not counting the generated news cycle) . It has been the same old "8 & 4" for the most part. Other than a couple of cold snaps here, I can say it has been too hot to hunt. The weather has been unusually warm. I hunted a little during muzzleloading days when it was cool and without seeing any deer. A few folks have been successful since bow season started. My friends who do hunt are not seeing the bigger bucks. Last night and the coming nights will fal/fell below the freezing mark. So, maybe the cooler temps will have them looking for calories and girlfriends. Went to the turkey shoot yesterday and won the first time I shot. I was in the "measuring" several more times, but no cigars. I came home with an $80 bird, but it was for a good cause and enjoyed seeing some familiar faces I hardly see except at this match each year. Some of these memes are "dated". It has been awhile since posting. Stay safe and "keep your powder dry".

  1. Barbara is probably the finest woman to have EVER graced this planet.

    1. It's pretty subjective, ignores personality to some degree and you're never going to get a sneek preview so what does it matter; but Sophia Loren (and her stunt double) have done it for me as long as I can recall. In reality the world is packed with beautiful women.

    1. Thanks for the assist. I recognized Jeannie right away. I'm not sure why I confused Bobby with June Carter Cash, but in my defense, I was only 3 when "Ode to Billy Joe" was released.

In the draft of 1917, a man from Tennessee
Overseas to the trenches he went, from the land of the free
Into war he brought two things along, a rifle and his faith
Joined the ranks as a private, assigned to 338th
      There on that day
      Alvin York entered the fray
      Saving the day
      82nd all the way
Into the fires of Hell, the Argonne, a hero to be
Entered the war from over the sea
Intervene, 1918, all the way from Tennessee
      Hill 223
When his faith has been put to the test, the call to arms he heeds
On the eighth of October he went, made a sergeant for his deeds
Fearless, leading the raid of the war, machine gun on the hill
Charge the enemy taking the prisoners, by power of his will
      There on that day
      Sergeant York entered the fray
      Saving the day
      82nd all the way
Into the fires of Hell, the Argonne, a hero to be
Entered the war from over the sea
Intervene, 1918, all the way from Tennessee
      Hill 223
What Sergeant York achieved that day
      Would echo to the USA
      It's 82nd all the way
Death from above, what they now say
What Sergeant York achieved that day
Echoes from France to the USA
      It's 82nd all the way
Death from above, what they now say
Into the fires of Hell, the Argonne, a hero to be
Entered the war from over the sea

  9. Good to hear from you Jeffery, hope your Thanksgiving was a good one.

Don't feel bad about the hunting, a lot of people up here are having a hard time finding bucks. I haven't seen one on my property all year. Nothing but does.
Guy I work with is an double-amputee and hunts from his four wheeler and wheel chair - doesn't slow him down a bit. However, last Saturday he left camp early due to phantom pains in his stumps. He was part way home when he got an alert from his cell camera. Showed a wide racked 8 pointer walking past where he was on watch that morning. Just after he left. He was pissed. It is the only buck that has shown up in the past couple of weeks.

      Isn't that standard procedure? LOL
No worries for me. I am not near as mad as deer as I used to be when I was younger. Don't get me wrong, I still love being in the woods and the thrill of hunting "the big one", but as you and most here know, with age comes change (priorities, comfort and/or pain levels, your body, etc.). There is a lot of season left and a "blind hog finds an acorn every now and again". Good to hear from you Leigh.
