Some of what he says is correct. Stopped listening because honestly he doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to the technology behind AI. Will jobs be lost? Yes. Every technological evolution causes certain job losses, and creates different jobs. So will AI. There may be a net loss, that's normal. People will adapt, we always do. I don't know why they're pushing all the fear mongering.
Watching trends, logging the facts, coming to logical conclusions. That sound you hear? That is the sound of inevitability. Theories yes, conspiracies not necessarily. Evolution. Welcome to the world of the real, Neanderthal.
I have been "aware" of AI since it first crawled out of the lab. It's only as good as the data it is fed, and today's online AIs are not a substitute for real human reasoning. It can beat a problem to death and come up with a "solution", yes, but is that solution optimized or even correct for that matter? We see biases in ChatGPT and others, that is the DIRECT result of the programmers setting up the data for the program to scan and analyze, and so it's still faulty because of inherent biases and direct misinformation being fed to it. I'm not worried about SkyNet, I'm worried about The Great Unwashed Masses depending on/assuming that what it outputs is definitive or complete. It ain't. AI is another term for "expert system" which has been around for 30-40 years and is getting better but it still follows GIGO constraints. Do not depend upon it. It's merely a very fast analytical tool. Beware.
I used to think that a computer could only do what it was programmed to do and in a way, that is true. The problem is that it was programmed to program itself, improve itself, and become sentient. Perhaps it's 'The Beast' that is given authority to command men. The similarities in Revelation are worth consideration. I think our only hope for the future would be an EMP that would destroy the data centers where it resides (or an extrordinary Carrington Event might work too.)
Oh, I thought we were doing The Police. Never mind.

ReplyDeleteAI is just another tool. it can't do anything we don't tell it to do. people said the same thing about computers in general 50 years ago.

ReplyDeleteAI won't have to be very smart. We are collectively "dumbed down".
ReplyDeleteImagine where we'd be had we not.
What happens when AI needs more energy and begins to search where it can get it? Shut us off and take it.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder they want population reduction, annihilate they and problem solved. We won’t need any government as well.
ReplyDeleteps I saw this on the internet
