Strange Weapon Concepts From The Past...

    The funny thing is literally "The Thing" was actually made for production...If memory serves, they called it the "Onto's" Here is the linkie for it on Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontos

    From what I have read, they were very popular with the troops for their ability to rape the VC/NVA that would mass assault the firebases. And they were hell on dug in bunkers.

  3. Item #7....."The Thing" aka: ONTOS actually existed, was used in conjunction with USMC tank companies (suppose to guard them from enemy attack) and saw action in the Nam. The only flaw was there was virtually no armor and the weapon handler had to exit the vehicle to reload the 6- 106mm recoiless rifles.

  4. Also, I recently (about a year ago) read an article on the use of panes of reflective material as camouflage, and it implied that they were in use in Afghanistan, in some limited circumstances.
