Death Traps of My Youth......

Weer'd Beard made a comment on my "FIAT" commercial post about the little 500's

and Smaht Cahs he sees around Boston.

I would never be caught "DEAD" in one of those things. ( That picture is a Ford Escape but it

gives you the idea.  Anyway I started thinking about all the shit we did when we were young

and the cars we did  said shit in.

Here are some of the ones I remember that my friends and I owned and how we raced

around and drank beer and were young and careless and free with a horseshoe up our asses

now that I think about it!!

In no particular order:(sample pictures grabbed off the webz thanks to google)

TOYOTA TERCEL

SAAB

SCIROCCO

FIAT X19- I can't believe we fit in this thing

MERCURY CAPRI

OPEL GT

VOLKSWAGEN RABBIT

SIMILAR TO MY FORD BRONCO.. NO ROLL BAR NO SEAT BELTS NO POWER BREAKS

TOYOTA SUPRA

  1. Dude, I had a Tercel in that EXACT color. It was a 4 door, though. Great car, ran for ever.

  4. Dude, what about the ubiquitous VW Beetle, man those da daze! Mine was a '68, last year of 6 volt battery. Power nothing (steering, brakes or windows, no A/C or even Telefunken. Gas cap was under the front trunk, engine was in the rear and soooo easy to service, open the hatch and practically everything was right in your face.

My brother and I put a couple of hundred thousand on that thing and it took it very well. Really good memories - thanks for the post.

  5. We didn't have any of them fancy foreign cars where I grew up. I did go through about 10 old Ford trucks though.

  6. X19 and the Opel GT pics bring back memories and make me wonder why I am still alive.

  7. Used to drive an X19 until it threw a rod on the highway.
Having an engine that you are leaning your back against throw a rod is a life-changing experience.
I coasted it to the shoulder, pulled the plates and threw them in the woods, and walked.
