I shut off most TV the beginning of last year (because it all SUCKS) and got back into reading. I have chosen some new books as well as books recommended at the various blogs I read.
I enjoy Steven King (his politics SUCK) and books on Paleo Eating and Low Carbing.
I enjoy Fiction, Science Fiction/ Fantasy, American History, Diet and Health.
Some of the titles that I have read recently are, in particular order:
The Dome
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
Unintended Consequences
One Second After
Molon Labe
1776
The Great Bridge
Undaunted Courage, Lewis and Clark
The Dark Tower Series ( Books 1 thru 7 in order)
The Primal Blueprint
7 Deadly Scenarios: A Military Futurist Explores War in the 21st Century
Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto
Anthem
Atlas Shrugged
Starship Troopers
Animal Farm
The Lord of the Flies
1984
Citizens
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress
Day by Day Armeggedon
World War Z
Watership Down
The Fountainhead
Deep Nutrition
Monster Hunter
Monster Hunter Vendetta
The reason for starting this post is that I have been rereading some of the books that I remember from my younger days. I reread the following two great books:
The Stand
Swan Song
and I just finished re-reading:
Fahrenheit 451, which was on my High School reading list. Now that I am older and wiser it was a great book that was hard to put down.
I am planning on getting:
Catch -22
The Catcher in the Rye
To Kill a Mocking Bird
Huckleberry Finn
What books do you guys/gals remember reading that are worth going back to??

Hoverbike...
Every once in a while something comes along so crazy, so unearthly cool, we have to shout it from the rooftops. Today just happens to be that once in a while, so feast your eyes on the BMW boxer engine powered Hoverbike. Framed around an 1,170cc 4-stroke BMW boxer engine that powers the twin rotors, the Hoverbike was the brainchild of Australian inventor, Chris Malloy. Malloy claims that the Hoverbike’s thrust to weight ratio should enable it to elevate to 10,000 feet and reach a speed of 173 mph (this begs the need for a good parachute and industrial strength body armor).

The Sweet Sound of Love.....
I hope they get their own XM channel!! I can imagine my commute to work ;)
A programme on a local Zurich radio airs what it calls “acoustic porn,” hoping to inspire people to make love, a report say.

Take Back the Nobel Peace Prize...
"DADDY BEAR" had some great reasons to yank that Prize back from the warmonger...
I don't think you can say it any better than this.
Dear Nobel Committee,
I'm writing in reference to the person you gave the Nobel Peace Prize to in 2009, President Barack Obama. At the time, you all rationalized your decision based on the potential Mr. Obama had to make the world a better, more peaceful place.
Since that time, President Obama has: "GO READ HERE"

A Father's Love.......
I'm sure this must have been embarrassing as hell for a 15 year-old boy, but I think later in life he will look back with fond memories how much work his father put into seeing him off to "school each day"

Conan O’Brien –
“It turns out that one of the women Congressman Anthony Weiner was communicating with was a porn star. When asked how it was possible to get involved with someone in such a sleazy business, the porn star said, ‘I don’t know.’

Teh Dept. of Education has a SWAT team??????????????????????
The U.S. Department of Education issued the search warrant and called in the S.W.A.T for his wife's defaulted student loans.
According to Wright, officers also woke his three young children ages 3, 7, and 11 and put them in a Stockton police patrol car with him. Officers then searched his house.
As it turned out, the person law enforcement was looking for was not there - Wright's estranged wife.
"They put me in handcuffs in that hot patrol car for six hours, traumatizing my kids," Wright said.
I wonder how this would have ended if Mr Wright had been armed ??? ( rhetorical question I know)

A Game of Cat and Mouse...
I took the bike out for a cruise around the back roads after work today. The weather is beautiful and it was hot in the shop so it was a welcome distraction. I was moseying along one of the less traveled roads when I saw a cat come out from the bushes on the left hand side of the road. He started crossing then he saw me and ran into my lane THEN all of a sudden he stopped . I was braking anyway and was thinking is he gonna go all chipmunk or squirrel on me? You know when the dart out and then stop and then go and then turn around and then smushhhh!
So he stops and crouches down and I roll up and hes got a mouse that he dropped. The mouse is trying to get away and the cat is pawing it and looking at me and looking at the mouse and looking at me and pawing the mouse. This went on for a little bit when he realized I had stopped. He grabbed the mouse and trotted off into the bushes and was probably on his way home to leave it on the porch to get the woman of the house to scream.

Douchebag Award Goes To...
Patti Labelle
Houston native Richard King claims he was waiting for his family to pick him up outside Terminal C in March when three of LaBelle’s bodyguards attacked him.
and Runner up Douchebag Award to West Point for not even waiting to see what the outcome was before kicking him out for 18 months:
"When West Point learned about the incident, they told King he would have to serve 18 months on Army deployment before he could re-apply to West Point to finish school."
what a bunch of douchebags.
