I....

  1. Great painting. That said, the subject invokes a somewhat bittersweet feeling in me. Why? Recently I embarked on research for an article on the Pledge of Allegiance. My findings were disturbing. The actual Pledge of Allegiance was written by a socialist "minister". I question a lot of what I was brought up to believe these days. One question is why do I blindly follow certain traditions rather than act on solid knowledge? Here is the article if anyone is interested. https://thelibertycoalition.org/blog/2019/09/05/the-pledge-of-allegiance-revisited/

  2. I remember doing that exact thing while in grade school at St Marys Catholic School in Kansas back in the early 70's. Us kids considered it quite the honor for the Sister to have us hold the flag while all others said the Pledge of Allegiance.
