Winter Wonderland During The Ride To Work This Morning..

Only about 3-5 inches but it covered all the trees.

Last night I found this one over at AHERDOFTURTLES and had a laugh.

The Email Saga

The more you know about the State Department, the worse Hillary's actions look.

For alumni of U.S. national-security departments and agencies, Hillary Clinton’s email saga is mind-numbing. The publicly available information makes clear she and her aides violated so many elementary security prohibitions that alumni are speechless. They wonder, had they done what she did, how quickly they would have lost their clearances and jobs and how extensive the criminal indictments against them would be.

This story starts with a motorcycle enthusiast named David Cuff who came across someone’s Flickr account that contained a collection of mystifying photographs showing a forgotten army of motorcycles abandoned in an unknown warehouse. Cuff set out on a mission to find the motorcycle graveyard and thanks to a random information about the location on a sport bike forum, David and his friends discovered the exact location of the rusty graveyard – 71 Gooding Street, the City of Lockport, Niagara County, New York.

He was determined to visit the motorcycle graveyard, if it was indeed still there, take pictures, hopefully even purchase an old bike. He organised a trip with his friends and they hit the road heading nine hours north to the town of Lockport, New York, to find out if the place was truly the rusty vintage bike heaven the message boards had made it out to be.

The place was known as the Motorcycle Graveyard of Lockport. From the early 1970’s, the building on Gooding Street became the headquarters for this growing business. The company was established by Kohls Cycle Sales after collecting over 50 years worth of motorcycles and related parts. Around 1997 Kohl sold the building and motorcycles to a man named Frank Murrell, and Frank operated the business as Kohl’s Cycle Salvage which sold parts off of the hundreds of motorcycles.

“The building with the alleged motorcycles is within eye sight of the canal lock,” describes David of the moment he first eyed the warehouse. “We hung out by the lock for a little while watching boats being raised and lowered. I was getting a feel for the area and casing the building like a bank robber.”

"Trump is a far more significant figure than Barack Obama will ever be."

During my nightly rounds of the blogs I happened upon this post linked in a comment over at GOLDEN GEESE NEWS

John Michael Greer Writes:

Donald Trump and the Politics of Resentment

Of all the predictions I made for the new year in my post two weeks ago, the one that seems to have stirred up the most distress and derision is my suggestion that the most likely person to be standing up there with his hand on a Bible next January, taking the oath of office as the next president of the United States, is Donald Trump. That prediction wasn’t made to annoy people, entertaining as that can be from time to time; nor is it merely a reaction to Trump’s meteoric rise in the polls and the abject failure of any of his forgettable Republican rivals even to slow him down.

The rise of Donald Trump, rather, marks the arrival of a turning point I’ve discussed more than once in these essays already. Like the other turning points whose impending appearance on the stage of the future has been outlined here, it’s not the end of the world; it’s thus a source of amusement to me to recall all those Republicans who insisted they were going to flee the country if Obama won reelection, and are still here, when I hear Democrats saying they’ll do the same thing if Trump wins. Still, there’s a difference of some importance between the two, because in terms of the historical trajectory of the United States, Trump is a far more significant figure than Barack Obama will ever be.

Hey, Let's Genetically Modify Some Skeeters And Release Them... What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

In Brazil's microcephaly epidemic, one vital question remains unanswered: how did the Zika virus suddenly learn how to disrupt the development of human embryos? The answer may lie in a sequence of 'jumping DNA' used to engineer the virus's mosquito vector - and released into the wild four years ago in the precise area of Brazil where the microcephaly crisis is most acute.

Pandora's box: how GM mosquitos could have caused Brazil's microcephaly disaster

Battle of the Bulge 2016

About this time seventy years ago the Ardennes offensive (if you were German it was known as Wacht am Rhein or if you were an American it was referred to The Battle of the Bulge, etc.) in the frozen forests of Belgium were winding down with the Germans falling back across the Rhine and the Americans pushing eastward. This weekend at Fort Indiantown GAP, PA many re-enactors/history buffs, etc.,  drove long distances and hauled a lot of stuff to an event which commemorates the battle. Here is a photo of a Sturmgeschutz III and a Panzer III with other vechicles and men in the background.
