The Dumbing Down of a Sleepy Irishman...

Boy did I jam my mouse up my ass on this one.  I was awake in the middle of the night and read this article below. I knew the winner was in MO but I had my doubts as to a highway being straight up to the canadian border. Needless to say I didn't do my google fu and check.

I was thinking that the writer was thinking of Dearborn MI. I know that is near the Canadian border because I drove through Canada to get to Univ of Mich. Waaay back in the day.

SO, I will have to take my punishment for being dumb and have one less beer tonight!

Read this:

DEARBORN, Mo. – Missouri Lottery officials on Thursday verified one of two tickets that matched all six numbers to split a record $588 million Powerball jackpot, but that ticket holder -- and another in Arizona -- remained a mystery, even as neighbors and co-workers lamented their losses and gossiped about who may have won.

The tickets were sold at a convenience store in suburban Phoenix and a gas station in Dearborn, Mo., just off Interstate 29, the highway linking Kansas City to the Canadian border.

Missouri lottery officials said they verified a ticket that was presented to them Thursday and set a news conference for 11 a.m. CST Friday at North Platte High School, near where the ticket was bought.

Lottery Chief Operations Officer Gary Gonder couldn't provide any details, including whether the ticket was bought by someone from Missouri.

Did you catch it?

Here is a screen grab in case they change it. The powerball story is on FOXNEWS

G-nite....

You know the drill, click the picture...

Good Cop, Bad Cop...

Okay so I posted a nice feel good story about an NYPD officer that went above the call of

duty and offered shoes to a homeless man. ( scroll down a few posts)

Now meet officer DIRTBAG, he may have stolen cash and jewelry from a motorcycle crash victim.

An Officer AND A Gentleman... There are good people out there.

NEW YORK — A tourist’s snapshot of a New York City police officer giving new boots to a barefoot homeless man in Times Square has created an online sensation.
Jennifer Foster, of Florence, Ariz., was visiting New York with her boyfriend on Nov. 14, when she came across the shoeless man asking for change in Times Square.

As she was about to approach him, she said the officer — identified as Larry DePrimo — came up to the man with a pair of all-weather boots and thermal socks on the frigid night. She recorded his generosity on her cellphone.

Wonders of the Ice World....

h/t to reader Bosko.

In polar and other cold regions there are ice, snow and water formations that are unusual, unique, and some of them so beautiful they take your breath away. Most of these wonders of nature can be visited only by scientists and rare adventurers who are ready for significant physical and financial exertions. Because of their volatility and locations, these formations can be seen only at certain periods of the year.

A union shop foreman walks into a bar...

...... next door to the factory and is about to order a drink to celebrate Obama's victory when he sees a guy close by wearing a "Romney for President" button and two beers in front of him.  He doesn't have to be an Einstein to know that this guy is a Republican.  So, he shouts over to the bartender so loudly that everyone can hear, "Drinks for everyone in here, bartender, but not for the Republican."

Soon after the drinks have been handed out, the Republican gives him a big smile, waves at him, then says, "Thank you!" in an equally loud voice.  This infuriates the union official.

The union captain once again loudly orders drinks for everyone except the Republican.  As before, this does not seem to bother the Republican.  He continues to smile, and again yells, "Thank you!"

The union thug once again loudly orders drinks for everyone except the Republican.  As before, this does not seem to bother the Republican.  He continues to smile, and again yells, "Thank you!"

The union guy asks the bartender, "What the hell is the matter with that Republican?  I've ordered three rounds of drinks for everyone in the bar but him, and all the silly idiot does is smile and thanks me.  Is he nuts?"

"Nope," replies the bartender.  "He owns the place."

Grandmothers and Grandfathers

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between Grandmothers and Grandfathers?

Well, here it is:

There was this loving grandfather who always made a special effort to spend time with his son's family on weekends. Every Saturday morning he would take his 7-year-old granddaughter out for a drive in the car for some quality time - pancakes, ice cream, candy... just him and his granddaughter.

One particular Saturday, however, he had a bad cold and really didn't feel like being up at all. He knew his granddaughter always looked forward to their drives and would be disappointed. Luckily, his wife came to the rescue and said that she would take their granddaughter for the drive and breakfast.

When they returned, the little girl anxiously ran upstairs to see her grandfather who was still in bed. "Well, did you enjoy your ride with grandma?" he asked. "Not really, Papa, it was really boring. We didn't see a single asshole, queer, lesbian, piece of crap, horse's ass, liberal pinko democrat Obama lover, blind bastard, dipshit, Muslim camel humper, or son of a bitch anywhere we went!"

Almost brings a tear to your eye, doesn't it?

Another Trayvon Martin In The Making?

HOUSTON—As family members of a man who was shot by a Valero clerk in southeast Houston called for the store clerk’s arrest, the store owner released surveillance video.
Alexander Calloway, 21, and his two cousins were trying to enter the gas station on Martin Luther King and Belarbor around 3:30 a.m., but the store was locked.
The young men got into an argument with the clerk, who unlocked his door and came outside, police said.
Someone punched the clerk in the face and the clerk pulled out his gun and shot Calloway in the stomach, according to HPD.

They Walk Among Us....

The man charged in a terrifying home invasion and rape on Beacon Hill is a convicted sex criminal and “high-risk” offender who gave the state the slip by failing to report where he lives, authorities say.
Anthony G. Williams, 45, already had open cases for assault and battery and failing to register as a sex offender when cops busted him yesterday at his mother’s house in Dorchester, Suffolk District Attorney spokesman Jake Wark said.
Williams now faces additional charges of aggravated rape, kidnapping and receiving stolen property in the Nov. 10 attack on a woman in her apartment at Joy and Myrtle streets, police and prosecutors said.

STORY

45 years old.
Level 3 Sex Offender.
No Job.
No Home Address.
High Risk.
Arrested at Mom's House.

Commited rape, kidnapping and and robbery.

So nobody could find this guy? A danger to the community? Meanwhile I bet if I didn't pay a parking ticket I would be busted the day after they issued a warrant.

I bet the state of ASSachusetts lets him out on parole.

Gobsmacked

(From an email I got and then I tracked down the ORIGINAL)

Well, it's official; I don't know anything.

I thought for sure that given such a clear choice, Americans would vote for love of country over revenge.

I was wrong.

I thought, that just as every presidential election in my lifetime, the bad economy would be hung around the incumbent's neck, sinking him.

I was wrong.

I thought that even those few Americans who were fortunate enough to still be fully employed (not counting those leeching off the public system) would be cognizant of how much pain their neighbors were in and elect someone who would at least try to make improvements.

I was wrong.

I thought that now that FINALLY some of the disturbing truths about our first black president had come to light, voters would reject a man so dangerously at odds with the American experience.

I was wrong.

I thought the 2010 elections and the Tea Party meant something.

I thought the enthusiasm on display at Romney/Ryan events, contrasted with the lack of same at Obama/Biden events meant something.

I thought Americans would never sell their liberty for the sake of trinkets like cell phones or even big shiny lies like 'free health care'.

I was wrong.

Never in a million years would I have supposed that America would support a president who left his (our) people to die at the hands of our enemies overseas without lifting a hand to help, then lie about what he watched in real time for over two weeks, then lie about the lie for another month.

I was wrong.

I thought Americans could tell a hawk from a handsaw.

I was wrong.

We were offered the clearest choice we've has since 1980, where we had malaise and a misery index on one hand and a shining city on a hill on the other.  Back then, we chose the city on the hill.  This time the choice was between a man who says 7.9% unemployment and $4.00 gas is the new normal and a guy whose entire career has been about fixing broken entities.

We chose to stay broken.  And Broke.

Maybe I'm wrong about the ramifications of this choice.  Maybe windmills will actually turn out to be a viable energy source.  Maybe America diminished will be loved overseas.  Maybe a nuclear Iran won't be a threat.  Maybe Israel is over reacting. Maybe western civilization was always over rated. Maybe life under sharia is fun.  Maybe when the rest of the world realizes that we have no intention of ever paying back that $16,000,000,000,000.00 (and counting) that we've borrowed from them, they won't devalue the dollar, causing hyper inflation here at home.  Maybe China will just keep on giving us money and not demand our hearts, souls, national monuments and marriageable daughters as payment.

I've watched my candidate lose elections before but I've never felt the way I did last night when this one was called for Obama.

It wasn't bitterness or sadness or even disappointment.  It took me a while to figure out what it was.  Then it hit me;
it was horror.

Pure, unadulterated horror.

Not because of Obama, but because of what it says about us, the American people, that we chose this.

It shouldn't have even been close.  Faced with the choice between taking charge of our destiny and tackling our financial problems, we opted to get high and have sex. We re-elected a guy who doesn't understand that a growing economy that creates more tax payers will bring in more revenue than higher taxes.  A Commander in Chief who doesn't know our military still uses bayonets. A man who wants to control the economy without even knowing the difference between bankruptcy and liquidation.  It was one thing to elect an unknown quantity, buying his line of 'Hope and Change'.  It's something else to deliberately choose his failed policies over someone who has actually achieved success in life.  I never dreamed America would do that.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, Hello Idiocracy!

Goodbye, recovery.

Goodbye, energy independence.

Goodbye, religious liberty.

Goodbye, liberty and justice for all.

Goodbye, America dream.

It profits a man nothing to lose his soul for the whole world...
but we threw ours away for cell phones and birth control pills.

In the twentieth century (the American Century), we stepped up to the plate three times and saved the rest of the world from Fascism, Nazism and Communism.
We were the cavalry, always riding to the rescue.

Now, we've gotten rid of our horses, spent all our money on windmills, alienated our allies, bowed to our enemies, cut ourselves off from our own natural resources thrown away our children's birthright and spent their inheritance.

And 51.4% of us did it on purpose.

When the wolf is at the door (and he is coming, yelling 'Allahu Akbar') we're going to find out that there is no one out there to come to our rescue.

On the bright side, maybe it'll all turn out great.
After all, I don't know anything.

Maybe that artist can get real edgy and do a painting of Obama as Mohammed?

That would be good for some laughs, wouldn't it?  I bet he doesn't have the balls.

Damn Squatters......

(this was from an email thanks reader Phyl)

Check List Complete:

I scouted the area all summer...
I searched out the best location for my tree-stand ...
I set it all up a month ahead of time ...

I trailed the herd ...
I picked out a trophy buck ...
Two days before opening day I rechecked every aspect of the hunt ...
Everything was in place ...
Sunday morning, I woke up at 2 am ...

I put on my camo, loaded my pack, set out for my stand ...
This was destined to be an epic hunt ....
As I approached my deer-stand...

Can you see where this is headed? Is it not brilliant in its subtlety?

Incrementalism has proved depressingly effective as a tool for getting most people to quietly surrender their rights piecemeal. For gradually habituating them to an ever-diminishing circle of liberty. When the circle finally closes and their rights no longer exist at all, they hardly notice – because by that time, most of their
rights have already been taken.
The final surrender is met with a shrug rather than a scream of outrage.
